Located to the rear of a 1960s terraced house in Twickenham, South London, the project required a garden room to accommodate external storage and additional living space with a disabled access toilet.
Taking the form of a cedar clad structure, this garden room was designed to contrast and complement the main house, maximising light, space and storage.
A recessed front facade provides depth and texture to the primary elevation, while a large set of bi-fold doors look out onto the garden facing the main house. Outside the bi-fold doors, raised decking creates space for an outside seating area sheltered from the elements by a cantilevered cedar clad roof above. To bring light into the central area, a single roof-light features above the living space. The storage area is positioned toward the back, utilising the rear access road.
